At the end of March, a team went fishing on the Mdukwi, the river east of Chabima, into which the Chabima River flows. The Mdukwi flows into the Mkondoa, upstream of Kilosa.
They left on Friday for some of them, preparing during the night the leaves of Tephrosia vogelii, and in the morning the tubers of dua.
As usual, everyone went on their own way, looking for the fish that were floating, stunned by the various poisons.
The fishermen came back in the evening, one of them was missing. They searched for several hours and then at nightfall decided to return.
The Mdukwi River is not very deep, the water comes up to mid-thigh to the deepest. But in some places there are caves, quite deep, in which live crocodiles. The next day several groups went to the scene, looking on the banks or through rocks. But none of them dared to search the caves, concluding that their friend had been caught by a crocodile and dragged to the bottom.
The young man, who lived in Shuleni Juu was therefore reported missing and a funeral vigil was held that evening.
